Robotic – the surgeon operates through a few small incisions using a console that gives magnified 3D vision and instruments that rotate further than the human wrist. Used where precision in a confined pelvis matters.
Laparoscopic – keyhole surgery through small incisions with a camera.

That depends on whether the ovaries are removed, not on whether the uterus is removed. In many hysterectomies the ovaries are left in place, and when they are, they carry on producing hormones and menopause arrives at its natural time. Periods stop, because the uterus is gone, but that is a separate thing from menopause. Whether your ovaries need to be removed is decided by your age and the reason for the operation, and it is discussed with you beforehand.
