Postoperative Adjuvant Treatments for Cervical Cancer A Network Meta-Analysis..DOI 10.1016j.ijrobp.2025.07.1440

Doctors use different treatments after surgery to stop cervical cancer from coming back. These treatments can include radiation, chemotherapy, or both. A new study looked at five common options to see which one helps women live longer and lowers the chance of cancer coming back.

Researchers studied over 2,900 women with early-stage cervical cancer. They compared five types of treatments:

β¦ΏΒ  Radiation alone
β¦ΏΒ  Chemotherapy alone
β¦ΏΒ  Radiation and chemotherapy at the same time (called CCRT)
β¦ΏΒ  Radiation first, then chemotherapy (called SCRT)
β¦ΏΒ  CCRT followed by more chemotherapy

The study found that the best results came from CCRT followed by extra chemotherapy. Women who got this treatment lived longer and had fewer recurrences. This was especially helpful for women with higher risk cancer. Other options like CCRT alone or SCRT also helped, but not as much.

When it came to side effects like tiredness, stomach problems, or bladder issues, all treatments were similar. Radiation alone had slightly fewer side effects.

This research helps doctors choose the best treatment after surgery. Women at higher risk may benefit most from CCRT plus extra chemotherapy. It gives them the best chance to stay cancer-free.
