Comparison of survival in ovarian cancer patients following treatment in certified gynecologic oncology centers and non-certified hospitals DOI- 10.1186s13048-025-01843-8

Ovarian cancer is a serious disease, and getting the right treatment can make a big difference. A new study from Germany shows that women treated in certified cancer centers live longer, especially when the cancer is caught in the earlier stages.

Researchers looked at over 20,000 women with ovarian cancer. Some were treated in hospitals certified by the German Cancer Society. Others went to hospitals without this certification.

After adjusting for age, cancer stage, and other factors, women treated in certified centers had better survival. The benefit was strongest for women with early to mid-stage cancer (stage I to III).

These certified centers follow strict guidelines. They have teams of specialists who focus on gynecologic cancers and work together to give the best care possible.

If you or someone you know has been diagnosed with ovarian cancer, choosing a hospital with cancer center certification could improve the chances of better outcomes. Ask your doctor if your treatment center is certified.
